SAS-TAC courses are designed with the special needs of military and other government units in mind.  SAS instructors teach standard industry practices, but with a tactical approach, suitable for military, border agents, and others working in severe mountain environments.  We also offer discounted rates on equipment sales, and detailed and thorough instruction in their use, including military specific gear unavailable to the public.

What sets us apart from other climbing/guide services offering military instruction?

-Our staff are highly skilled climbers and guides with direct combat experience, from Anbar Province in Iraq to the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is no other instruction available with this unique combination.
- SAS employs former instructors from the US Army Mountaineering School , having a thorough and intimate knowledge of current needs, TTP’s, equipment, and unit METL’s.
- SAS instructors have worked with most special operations units in the US Armed Forces, as well as many conventional units, civilian law enforcement, and foreign militaries around the globe.
-All SAS guides are AMGA trained. Lead instructors are AMGA certified. Resume's available upon request.
- Most participants will choose one of the scheduled 4 day programs, but feel free to customize your own course based on unit needs.  Courses require min. 4 participants.  Maximum ratio is 6 students to 1 instructor. Courses are held at any location, contact us for requirements.

4 Day Summer Mountaineer
Day 1 – Introduction to mountaineering knots & equipment, medical considerations, and movement on rock.
Day 2 – Belay techniques, climbing techniques
Day 3 – Rappelling techniques, expedient rescue
Day 4 – Highlines and bridges
4 Day Winter Mountaineer 
    Day 1 – Introduction to mountaineering knots & equipment, medical considerations, avalanche and     other winter hazards
    Day 2 – Avalanche rescue techniques, snow/ice climbing methods,   snowmobile tour (*extra cost)
    Day 3 – Glacier travel, emergency bivouac shelters, winter survival, overnight
    Day 4 – Winter survival, crevasse rescue
4 Day Mountain Rescue
    Day 1 – Introduction to rescue  - knots, equipment, organization, and personal rope techniques.
    Day 2 – Hauling systems, lowering systems
    Day 3 - Companion rescue techniques, Introduction to group rescue
    Day 4 – Group rescue exercise, highlines
High Altitude / Lead Climber (requires travel to high altititude training site)
    Typically taught over a seven day period, students finishing the lead climber course will receive instruction in equipment, terrain considerations, Mountain Operations, weather, anchors, belaying, climbing skills, Multi-pitch climbing and rappelling, companion rescue, Tactical alpine considerations, alpine climbing, bivouac routine, and evacuation skills. Each course is tailored to the specific needs of the unit. Price and location vary.
