2011 Alpinist/Smuggs Ice Bash

 

The 5th annual Smuggs Ice Bash – the local’s ice climbing festival at the foot of Smuggler’s Notch. We are working out the details of this year's Bash, be prepared for some great clinics, a wicked slide show by Ian Osteyee, and an indoor drytooling comp at Petra Cliffs on Friday night!!**Clinic registration and information here

The main venue this year will be at the Smuggler's Notch Inn, right in the village of Jeffersonville. There are rooms available upstairs, a great pub downstairs, and all the vendors in the middle. Mention the Ice Bash for a room discount. The Brewski Pub and Grill has again offered FREE CAMPING out back, with showers! Please let us know if you plan on camping. presents the 1st Annual Vermont Indoor Drytooling Comp! 

Kick off Ice Bash at Petra Cliffs in Burlington on Friday, January 28th – Matt McCormick presents "Climbing & Culture" – world class photography and video from Pakistan’s alpine playground, the Charakusa valley. 7p.m. Competition begins – watch the area’s best climbers battle it out to a winner take all finish.  $5 spectator fee, food & beverages provided.  Competitors - $150 cash prize, and a 70m Petzl rope.  Limited entry - email your intent to compete with a short climbing resume to info@sunriseadventuresports.com.

Schedule and Clinics

Gear Demos available 9am Saturday and Sunday. Try out the latest in boots, tools, and crampons, and more. Gear is expected to be returned before 5pm each day. Gear demos are free with ID - credit card deposit required if you aren't planning on returning the stuff. Don't hesitate to try out a clinic - this is a festival for everyone, novices to veterans!
Friday: Informal climbing session at Bolton Quarry.
Friday night: Indoor drytooling comp, all climbers invited.
Saturday night: Slideshow at The Village Tavern/Smuggler's Notch Inn with Ian Osteyee. Adirondack local and Camp/Cassin athlete Ian Osteyee spans the globe from first ascents in Nepal with Erik Weihenmayer, to the Ruth Gorge, to the 'Daks. Free, 6pm.
